About Us
Manurewa Parenting Hub Inc provides services that support parents as leaders of their family.
Here is a little more about the services we provide in Manurewa.
All sessions are free. Check the Term Timetable for day, time and location.
Our aim is to support parents with as much knowledge about parenting issues as we can. Our sessions are requested by the parents and are fun, interactive and practical. We hear many stories of families that go straight home and see positive changes in their homes.
Topics we have covered:
Money can be a big reason for stress in the family so we can support families to help them use their financial resources in the best and most effective ways.
Fitness and Health
Three times a week at the Hub parents get together with a trained instructor and take time to look after themselves by exercising and talk about healthy lifestyles.
Come and join in, all fitness levels welcome. | Over the many cups of coffee parents share at the Hub dining table, issues are expressed and solutions are searched for. Parents often find out they are not the only ones that face those problems and as a result they can request special workshops on a huge range of topics.
Past topics include:
Buzztime
In 2011 we had a need for our preschoolers to have some quality time with their adult and other children. The time was structured with morning tea, an activity and a mattime full of songs, stories and fun. Many of these children have transitioned to early childhood centers and have adjusted well after having been at Buzztime. Buzztime is not currently running but preschoolers are welcome to come to the Hub with you.
![]() Teacher Aide Project
In 2011 the Hub made it possible for 14 positions in supporting roles as training teacher aides in the local schools.
All applicants that were chosen for the positions were considering reentering the work force. They were provided with training and support and the opportunity was designed to help parents with a path back into the paid workforce.
Our 2012 teacher aides were in 6 schools and in 2013 there are 20 parents who have been employed in schools in Manurewa and Takanini.
